The question most people are afraid to ask — answered.

On the house & its work
How long do I really have? My Life Longer exists because three people, from three very different careers, kept running into the same answer: most people have no idea — and the tools that claim to tell them are either too vague to be useful or too clinical to be honest.

Our story

Built on the idea that knowing should change how you live.

Most people never get a straight answer to the question that quietly haunts them. Doctors give averages. Insurance companies run calculations they never share. Family history gets dismissed as a guess. We decided to build something different — an honest estimate, backed by real actuarial math, delivered in a way that respects your intelligence.

My Life Longer began with a simple observation: the data has always existed — in life tables, in clinical studies, in longitudinal research that insurance actuaries have used for more than a century. But that knowledge sat locked inside institutions that had no interest in handing it to the people it belonged to.

We pulled it out. We built a calculator that takes the same mortality tables, regression models, and survival analyses that underwrite multi-billion-dollar insurance portfolios, and turns them into a personalized estimate you can actually use — one that accounts for the dozens of variables that actually matter: lifestyle, family history, chronic conditions, environmental factors. Not a two-question novelty quiz.

But a number alone changes nothing. That's why the calculator is only the beginning. Every week, we publish evidence-forward writing on the habits, decisions, and biological signals that shape how long — and how well — you live. No hype. No supplement ads dressed up as science. Just a straight read of the research, translated into something you can act on before Monday.

Most people lose years of healthy life to habits they could change today — if they only knew which ones mattered most.
— The LEC Mission

That's the work. That's the whole thing. A number that's honest, and the knowledge to do something about it.

What we believe

Three principles, non-negotiable.

The way we approach every calculation, every article, every recommendation on this site.

i.

Data over opinion.

Every estimate we produce is rooted in actuarial life tables, peer-reviewed research, and published mortality data. If we can't cite it, we don't claim it. Our job is to translate the evidence — not to editorialize it.

ii.

Accessible, not dumbed down.

You don't need a medical degree to understand your own life expectancy. We write for curious adults — clear, direct, and respectful of your time — without flattening the nuance that makes the answer actually useful.

iii.

Privacy is the product.

Your answers stay yours. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with insurers, and we never will. The calculator works because people trust it — and we'd rather close the site than violate that trust.

The people

Three careers. One calculator.

Longevity, brand, and data — the three disciplines this problem has always needed, finally in the same room.

Longevity Expert · Author · Co-Founder

Scott has spent a career answering the question this site is built around — first as a longevity professional advising seniors and baby boomers on retirement and financial planning, and later as the voice the national press calls when the story needs someone who actually knows how the numbers work.

His book It's Never Too Late earned national acclaim. His commentary has appeared on 20/20, NBC Nightly News, in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Newsweek, and he's a recurring guest on Fox Business and regular contributor to the Huffington Post. Ian Shiell

Data & Analytics · Growth Strategist · Co-Founder

Ian is the reason the calculator actually works. Twenty-two years into a career in data-driven marketing and analytics, he's spent his working life turning messy data into decisions — first for small and mid-sized businesses across the United States, later for Fortune 500 companies needing to understand how people actually use the internet.

At LEC, Ian owns the models, the methodology, and the growth engine — the under-the-hood work that separates a novelty quiz from an estimate worth your time. If the site finds you, reaches you, and gives you a number you can trust, that's Ian's fingerprint on all three.
